If you want to create a larger canvas the squares will need to be enlarged. This can easily be done by dividing the nu mber of squares by the width and height. 1. Drawing up the lines For this chart we’ll be using a 50 x 60cm canvas. Refer to the outline guide on page 5 far all measurements. Use a 2h pencil and mark in the perimeter line around the canvas. Next mark in the points for all of the horizontal lines and draw them in. Measure the points for the vertical lines and mark them in. Create another set of horizontal lines for an area in the bottom of each square for the colour name. 2 Defining the line work Use a fine tip marker to redraw in all of the lines. In this step we draw in the colour names also. 1 2

3. Adding the paint The colour is best applied with a medium flat oil Taklon Brush. Snake the colours down the canvas. Start with the Whites moving to Yellows, Reds, Purples, Blues, Greens and then to the Brown colours and Gold and Silver. 1 Remember each colour has unique characteristics so lay them thick to thin so varying opacity and any tonal change can be appreciated. 3
