Photo transfer painting using Deco Pudge
1. Painting the image
- Mix Olive Green and Leaf Green for a soft tone
- Apply evenly to the cactus image using a flat taklon brush
- Let dry completely, then add a second coat
2. Prep the painting board
- Mix Mustard, Pastel Yellow, and a touch of Magenta
- Add a small amount of Deco Pudge Matte to the mix for transparency
- Use an abstract brush to blend across the board
- Add a touch of Magenta while the paint is wet for warmth
- Let dry fully, then apply a thin coat of Deco Pudge Matte over the board and let dry again
3. Photo transfer on acrylic
- Loosely cut around the cactus shape
- Brush a generous coat of Deco Pudge Matte onto the painted side of the cactus image
- Coat the painted board as well
- Place the image face down on the board and smooth out using your fingers
- Press firmly using the back of a spoon in circular motions
- Leave to dry overnight
4. Reveal the image
- Soak the paper with a sponge and water until fully saturated
- Gently rub in circles to peel away the paper, leaving the ink behind
- Rinse under running water if needed (do not submerge)
- Let dry completely
5. Deco Pudge
- Apply another thin coat of Deco Pudge Matte to seal and bring back contrast
- Dry with a hairdryer if desired
6. Final touches
- Stamp a soft magenta moon using a cup or lid
- Fill it in lightly with a brush for a translucent look
- Touch up the cactus with green paint if desired
- Finish with one final coat of Deco Pudge Matte over the entire board
- A black and white image (A4 size recommended)
