Tealight mummy lamp

You will need

  • Empty jar

  • Black Acrylic Paint

  • Small round brush

  • Plaster cloth wrap

  • Scissors

  • Small bowl of water

  • Tealight

Steps

1) Prepare the plaster wrap

Cut plaster wrap to length. Scrunch up the plaster wrap to remove any excess plaster.

2) Create the mummy base

Dip the plaster wrap in water and then wrap it around the jar. Overlap a few pieces and leave the plaster dry.

3) Final details

Paint the eyes with the black acrylic paint and let it dry. Add more plaster wrap over one eye and let it dry.

Spooky ghost tealight cover

You will need

  • A long handle paintbrush

  • Aluminium foil

  • Mont Marte Air Hardening Modelling Clay 500g

Steps

1) Preparing the clay

Cut the clay in half and roll out a round, pancake shape about 1 cm thick. You can roll the clay onto the aluminium foil to protect your surface. A long-handled paint brush can also make for a good rolling pin. Smooth the clay with a little water.

2) Shaping the ghost

Roll the aluminium foil into a large ball. Drape the clay over the foil ball and start shaping your ghost’s coat. You can use your fingers or the paintbrush for this. Next, create the eye holes with the tip of the brush and then leave the clay to dry. Air drying clay can take up to 24 hours to completely dry. Once dry, remove the aluminium foil and add a tealight for a candlelit effect.

Frightful ghost card

  • You will need

  • Thick paper (like A4 sketch paper)

  • Cotton buds

  • A pencil

  • Two colours of paint (we use light purple and purple paint)

Steps

1) Draw your ghosts
Fold a sheet of paper in half, then draw the ghosts onto the front of the card. If you would like some guidance you can find a reference outline PDF on our website.

2) Paint your card
Use the tip of a cotton bud to dab purple paint around the outline of each ghost. Next, fill in the eyes and mouth of each ghost. Finish the card off by using your alternative colour -we’ve used a lighter purple, and add extra dots around the first colour for a fun effect.

Trick-or-Treat bag

Create your own Halloween treat bag for trick or treating.  This project is simple and best of all you only need a few things!

You will need

  • Plain tote bag

  • Orange Fabric paint sticks

Steps

1) Create your bag
Using the Orange Paint Stick, draw two triangles for eyes and colour them in.
Next, draw two rectangles for teeth and connect them with a smile. Draw another rectangle shape below the first two and connect this to the top of the mouth. Then colour in for a big, wide grin.

Rock Monsters

You will need

  • A tear off paper palette

  • Fine brush

  • Medium brush

  • Wide brush

  • Acrylic paint set

  • 4 rocks

Steps

1) Prepare your rocks
Paint the rocks with Titanium White Paint and let the paint dry.
Once dry, paint 1 rock Vermillion, 1 rock Yellow, 1 rock Cerulean Blue and one rock Light Green, then let them dry.

2) Decorate
Use black paint on a fine brush and paint in the mouth and outline of the teeth. Once dry, paint the teeth and the eyes white then let dry. Next, paint in the eyeballs with Black to make pupils.
Add spots to your monsters by using the end of the paint brush and a contrasting colour to make your monsters stand out. The colour of the spots is dependent on the base colour – we used Vermillion dots on a Yellow base.  Phthalo Blue dots on a Cerulean base. Crimson dots on a Vermillion base and Yellow dots on a Light Green base.

Toilet Roll monsters

In this next project, we create 3 monsters from toilet rolls.  If you would like to try the 3 that we have made you will need the following supplies.

You will need

  • Acrylic paint

  • Tear off palette

  • Black and white paper

  • Fine brush

  • Medium brush

  • Large brush

  • Pencil

  • Bandages

  • Tape

  • Toilet rolls

Steps

Frankenstein

1) Prepare the roll
Paint the toilet roll Light Green and let dry.

2) Cut out the shapes
Create a circle by tracing around the base of the toilet roll using a pencil on black paper. Cut out the circle and tape it to the top of the roll. (Run a strip of tape and stick to the inside, place the circle on top of the sticky tape then stick to the other side of the roll).

3) Add the final touches
Paint the eyes with Titanium White. Next, paint the hair, add pupils to the eyes and a zigzag mouth with black paint.

Mummy

1) Prepare the roll
Create a circle by tracing around the base of the toilet roll using a pencil on white paper. Cut out the circle and tape it to the top of the roll. (Run a strip of tape and stick to the inside, place the circle on top of the sticky tape then stick to the other side of the roll).

2) Add the final touches
Paint the eyes onto the toilet roll with Black paint. Then, wrap the roll in a bandage leaving the eyes visible. Finish by cut off the bandage once you’ve covered the mummy.

Dracula

1) Prepare the roll
Paint the roll Titanium White. Next, create a circle by tracing around the base of the toilet roll using a pencil on black paper. Cut out the circle and tape it to the top of the roll. (Run a strip of tape and stick to the inside, place the circle on top of the sticky tape then stick to the other side of the roll).

2) Add the final touches
Paint the hair in with Black paint. Once dry, draw a cape shape in black paper using a pencil. Cut it out and tape it to the back of the toilet roll. Paint the eyes and mouth in with black paint on a small brush. Finish by painting a bow tie with Red Paint, then dot a circle and draw two triangles on either side, done!
