Minimalist landscape in acrylics
Arch drawing

- Draw a margin on your canvas - ours is a few centimetres wide
- Use a piece of string as a compass to map out an arch
- Clean up any unwanted lines, just leaving the arch
Landscape drawing

- Sketch in a simple landscape with rolling hills
- Tracing around a cap makes a perfect circle for the sun
Base painting

- Mix cream using lots of Titanium White and a little Yellow Ochre
- Paint this around the arch - it's softer than harsh white
- Next mix a little Burnt Sienna with Titanium White
- Apply this pale peach to your sky area
- This painting uses similar tones that complement each other
- We're going for harmony rather than contrast
- Blend a lighter version of the peach just above the hills
Hills painting

- Mix Burnt Sienna, Yellow Ochre, and lots of Titanium White
- Paint in the upper hill
- Add some Burnt Umber to the mix
- Paint the lower hill
- You can get better brush control by flipping your canvas
- This helps with clean lines and sharp edges
Final steps

- Lastly, paint the sun with Titanium White
- Feel free to match the colour palette with your decor
- Try using greens, blues, pinks - it's up to you
