Gloss Mediums:
By using a gloss medium over your work, you will be able to achieve a glossy finish and safeguard it against scratches at the same time. Utilizing a soft, flat taklon brush, spread a very thin coating all over the finished product and allow it to dry.
Matte Mediums:
You will be able to achieve a matte look if you choose to utilise a matte medium in your project. In the same manner as with the gloss medium, apply a thin coat of the matte medium to the surface of your final oil pastel artwork with a soft, flat taklon brush, then wait for it to dry and you are finished!
Framing:
A frame with matboard is the best way to show off your oil pastel art. Some people may not know that oil pastels never dry completely. Because of this, if you hang your oil pastel masterpieces directly on the wall, small animals and dust will move in and ruin your work. So, putting your art in a matboard frame will do two things: 1) protect it from bugs and dust, and 2) give it a mm of space between the glass and the art so that it doesn't get pressed right up against the glass which could cause smudging and some transfer.
