How to: keep a palette fresh between painting sessions

Acrylic Paint:
These simple hacks are sure to become apart of your painting routine! With larger sized palettes, simply lay down some cling wrap, place the palette on top and roll a layer of cling wrap on top. Be sure to fold over any sides to ensure it’s airtight. This will slow down the paint’s  drying time. For smaller palettes you have two options. You can either cut a wet sponge to size and place in the centre of the palette, then place it in an airtight container. Or you can, simply place the palette in a Ziploc bag with a sheet of wet paper towel underneath. Both options are great ways for keeping your acrylic paint looking like new.

Oil Paints:
Wrapping a palette in cling film and storing it in the freezer is the best way to extend the life of your oil paints. The  paint may be ruined if the temperature in the freezer drops to 0°C. Simply take them out of the freezer when you're ready to get back to painting.

Watercolour Paints:
Watercolour paints are pretty easy to keep fresh, just let them dry. You can also keep your paints in an airtight container and keep your palette in a cool dry place to avoid mould. To reactivate the paint effortlessly, just add some water and you’re set!

Gouache Paints:
Gouache paints like most of the others are pretty simple to keep fresh between painting sessions. Place your palette in an airtight container and cut a wet sponge to size and place in the middle of the palette.
