Cleaning:
If you clean your calligraphy nibs on a regular basis, it’ll help the ink flow more freely, plus it’ll help your calligraphy pens to last longer. After the ink has begun to dry, you can easily clean the nib by swishing it about in some water, then patting it gently to dry with paper towel.
You can use a toothbrush to brush away any dried ink that might have built up in tight spaces in between uses. Combine baking soda and water, then use it as a scrape with a toothbrush to remove any other ink that’s tricky to remove. After they’ve been washed and dried thoroughly, the nibs should be kept in a sealable container.
Other Cleaning Techniques:
To clean multiple nibs at once, insert the nibs into a potato and leave for 10 minutes. Sounds crazy but hear us out here, our nibs are made with hardened sprung steel, so you won’t have to worry about the potato damaging the tines.
Next, take the nibs out of the potato and wipe off any residue. Alternatively, you can take some nail polish remover on a piece of paper towel to clean. You can also use, toothpaste, window cleaner or a mixture of washing liquid and water.
So there you have it, that’s how to clean calligraphy nibs using bits and bobs from around the house.
