Create three simple acrylic pour paintings

Let your creativity flow and create three simple acrylic pour paintings!
In this project we'll show you three different ways to create a simple pour painting using our Pouring Acrylic Paint Set in coral, so you can take a look at how it’s done, then give it a whirl yourself.

Extra materials you’ll need:

  • Plastic cups
  • Straw

Open a set of Coral Acrylic Paint kits paints and pour each colour into a cup.

Hand pouring a Mont Mare Acrylic Pouring paint into a single plastic cup.

Add a small dash of water to dilute the pour paints (you won’t want to fill the cup all the way) these will create cells.

Hand pouring water from a jug into a plastic cup to dilute the pouring paint inside.

Mix each paint in with a palette knife to stir.

Hand mixes pouring paint with a Mont Marte palette knife, shot shows four plastic cups each filled with different coloured pouring paint.

Prop your canvas up using four plastic cups on either corner, to protect the table.

Pour each one of your colours into one cup.

Flip the cup upside down on top of the canvas.

Lift the cup off the canvas.

Hand lifts the plastic cup off of the canvas to show paint spilling onto the canvas.

Tilt the canvas slowly to spread the paint to the edges of the canvas.

Don’t forget the edges of the canvas.

Hand paints the edge of the canvas with finger tips.

Then watch the cells form and wait for the paint to dry, then you're all done!

Pour white pour paint onto the canvas (You can use a palette knife to control how much paint is poured on, to avoid saturating the canvas).

Lay pour paints onto the canvas. We used a mix of colours and then two rounds of white around the rings.

Blow the paint around with a straw, remember to blow out, not in!

Blowing the pour paint with a straw to spread the paint across the canvas.

Continue to blow the paint around the canvas to spread it around. Experiment with direction and see what happens!

All done!

Pour each of your paints into a single cup.

Pour the cup onto the center of the canvas.

Pour the cup in a circular motion, spiraling outwards.

Tilt the canvas slowly so the paint spreads to each side.

Hand tilts the canvas to spread the coral, orange and pink pour paint to cover the canvas.

Keep tilting the canvas until the edges and corners are covered.

Hand keeps tilting the canvas to ensure the coral pour paint reaches each side of the canvas.
