Are you exploring our acrylic paint range and wondering which type is best for you? In this guide, we’ll talk you through the main differences between our acrylic paints, including thickness, pigment load and finish. We’ve also included a couple of demos so that you can see them in action!

Dimension Acrylic Premium

This heavy-bodied paint is the thickest acrylic in our range. With a buttery texture, our Dimension Acrylics are perfect for retaining brush strokes in your work and creating impasto techniques with a palette knife. We’ve also developed this range with a high pigment load, meaning they provide clean colour mixing and give your artwork strong colour intensity.

  • Consistency: Ultra-thick and creamy texture that holds its shape once dry.

  • Pigments: High pigment load for clean colour mixing and strong colour intensity.

  • Excellent Lightfastness: Dimension Acrylics have a lightfast rating of Blue Wool Level 7 or above (equivalent to ASTM 1). This means that under museum lighting conditions, the pigment will remain unchanged for more than 100 years.

  • Coverage: Great coverage

  • Finish: Gloss finish

  • Surfaces: Suitable for most surfaces including canvas, wood, air dry clay, plaster, cardboard, paper, leather and some plastics.

  • Drying time: 20-30 minutes (1-2 hours for thick areas).

  • Sizes: Dimension Acrylic Premium paints are available in a 75ml or 250ml size, a 36 x 37ml boxed set and an 8px x 18ml intro set.

  • Techniques:
    - Thick brush strokes.
    - Impasto techniques using a palette knife.
    - Regular acrylic painting.
    - Can be diluted with water or acrylic mediums for glazing or watercolour techniques.

Satin Acrylic Premium

Our Satin Acrylics pack the same high pigment load as our Dimension Acrylics but feature a silky-smooth consistency and medium thickness. This makes them perfect for regular painting, creating glazes and smooth blending. Thanks to the high pigment load, these paints also provide clean colour mixing and strong colour intensity.

  • Consistency: Smooth texture with medium thickness.

  • Pigments: High pigment load for clean colour mixing and solid colour intensity.

  • Very good lightfastness: Satin Acrylics have a lightfast rating of Blue Wool Level 6 or above (equivalent to ASTM 2). This means that under museum lighting conditions, the pigment will remain unchanged for 50-100 years.

  • Coverage: Great coverage.

  • Finish: Semi-matte finish.

  • Surfaces: Suitable for most surfaces, including canvas, wood, air dry clay, plaster, cardboard, paper, leather and some plastics.

  • Drying time: 20-30 minutes (1-2 hours for thick areas).

  • Sizes: Satin Acrylic Premium paints are available in a 75ml or 100ml size, a 6pc x 75ml set, and an 8pc x 18ml intro set.

  • Techniques:
    - Regular acrylic painting.
    - Can be diluted with water or acrylic mediums for glazing or watercolour techniques.

Metallic Acrylic Premium

If you want to add a bit of shine to your artworks, let our Metallic Acrylic Premium paints do the job. While they have a lower pigment intensity than Dimension and Satin Acrylics, they feature an eye-catching metallic finish and smooth, creamy texture. This makes them ideal for adding a pop of metallic detail to artworks, creating shimmering backgrounds and bringing stunning abstract paintings to life.

  • Consistency: Smooth, creamy texture and medium thickness.

  • Pigments: Rich metallic colours made with a mica colourant, delivering a highly reflective shine but a lower pigment intensity than Dimension and Satin Acrylics.

  • Very good lightfastness: Metallic Acrylic Premium paints have a lightfast rating of Blue Wool Level 6 or above (equivalent to ASTM 2). This means that under museum lighting conditions, the pigment will remain unchanged for 50-100 years.

  • Coverage: Good coverage.

  • Finish: Metallic finish.

  • Surfaces: Suitable for most surfaces including canvas, wood, air dry clay, plaster, cardboard, paper, leather and some plastics.

  • Drying time: 20-30 minutes (1-2 hours for thick areas).

  • Sizes: Metallic Acrylic Premium paints are available in a 50ml size, an 8pc x 36ml set and an 8pc x 18ml intro set.

  • Techniques:
    - Regular acrylic painting.
    - Can be diluted with water or acrylic mediums for glazing or watercolour techniques.

Fluoro Acrylic Premium

Our Fluoro Acrylic Premium paints are perfect for creating bright artworks that stand out in normal light and glow under black (UV) lights! They feature a smooth texture and translucent finish, but can be layered to create an opaque result. These paints are great for craft projects and creating posters for events (especially when you know there’ll be UV lights around).

  • Consistency: Smooth texture and medium thickness.

  • Pigments: Bright fluoro pigments but a lower pigment load than Dimension and Satin Acrylics.

  • Very good lightfastness: Fluoro Acrylic Premium paints have a lightfast rating of Blue Wool Level 6 or above (equivalent to ASTM 2). This means that under museum lighting conditions, the pigment will remain unchanged for 50-100 years.

  • Coverage: Good, buildable coverage.

  • Finish: Translucent finish captures and reflects light which means these paints glow under ultraviolet lights. To build opacity, use several layers of paint and allow each layer to dry before painting the next.

  • Surfaces: Suitable for most surfaces including canvas, wood, air dry clay, plaster, cardboard, paper, leather and some plastics.

  • Drying time: 20-30 minutes (1-2 hours for thick areas). If layering, you can speed up drying time with a hair dryer or fan.

  • Sizes: Fluoro Acrylic Premium paints are available in a 50ml size and an 8pc x 36ml set.

  • Techniques:
    - Regular acrylic painting.
    - Can be diluted with water or acrylic mediums to create a wonderful glazing technique.

Acrylic Colour Signature

Our Acrylic Colour paints are a great all-rounder for your art and craft projects. They feature a creamy texture that makes it easy to create smooth brushstrokes and can be used on various surfaces, including canvas, cardboard and air dry clay. If you’re planning on mixing more than 2 colours together to create a new colour, we’d recommend choosing the Satin or Dimension Acrylics due to their higher pigment load.

  • Coverage: Good coverage

  • Finish: Semi-matte finish

  • Surfaces: Suitable for most surfaces including canvas, wood, air dry clay, plaster, cardboard, paper, leather and some plastics

  • Drying time: 20-30 minutes (1-2 hours for thick areas)

  • Sizes: Acrylic Colour Signature paints are available in a 75ml, 300ml, 500ml, 1L and 2L size and in a range of set sizes including some metallic options

  • Techniques:

Pouring Paint Premium

Pouring paints are a high-flow acrylic with a fluid consistency that’s perfect for creating pour paintings. The smooth flow of these paints also makes them great for expressive or smooth brush strokes. Our pouring paints are all pre-mixed and ready to pour straight out of the bottle.

  • Consistency: High-flow consistency.

  • Pigments: Smooth texture with medium thickness; dilute with water for a thinner viscosity.

  • Coverage: Good coverage.
